Reach Beyond - The Campaign for Onondaga Community College

O'Brien and Gere Employee/Alumni Reach Beyond Event

In September, Onondaga alumni working at O’Brien and Gere in East Syracuse attended a special reception as part of the Reach Beyond Campaign’s outreach to more than 38,000 alumni and the local corporate community.

Onondaga President Debbie L. Sydow, Ph.D., praised the group for its accomplishments and provided a brief update of all the exciting happenings on campus. She also discussed the College’s mission of access and the impact of low tuition costs on making Onondaga a first choice for students.

Thomas A. Burton, vice president of Institutional Advancement, addressed the group and thanked O’Brien and Gere for its support of the capital campaign.  He stressed that the heart of the campaign remains the Presidential Scholars Fund, which allows high school students in Onondaga County graduating in the top 20 percent of their class to receive a full scholarship to the College.

Also attending were members of O’Brien and Gere’s executive team including Terry Brown, chairman and CEO of the company. Brown commended Onondaga’s role in the community as an asset to train the future workforce and keep it in the Central New York area.

Comments from Brown and Onondaga alumni can be heard in the slideshow above.
