From newly built residence halls, to three national championships, to record enrollment, to award winning academic programs and faculty, Onondaga Community College is poised to advance its central role in providing community-based higher education for all.
From this position of strength, Onondaga has a bold vision for maximizing the College's resources, improving the quality of life and learning for students, and more effectively responding to the educational needs of the community.
To transform this vision into reality, the College is embarking on the largest fund-raising effort in its history. The Campaign for Onondaga Community College, a $6 million campaign, supports four major initiatives that will significantly bolster state and county funding by concentrating on academic achievement, access, innovation, and creativity.
Now the second-largest undergraduate institution in Central New York, Onondaga enrolls as many as 60% of college-bound high school seniors in some local school districts. Onondaga offers nearly 50 different degree and certificate programs, customized training for business and industry, and a full range of personal enrichment courses to more than 25,000 students each year.
Taxpayer support provides less than 50% of the College's revenue each year. Additional resources are necessary for Onondaga to continue this service to the community and carry out its mission of contributing to a high quality of life, a well-educated citizenry, and a vital regional economy:
I started this journey long ago and at times thought it wasn't worth the sacrifice. The means to obtain an education became challenging, a burden that was eased by the generosity of donors who value education.- Louis Velez- '05, Humanities
